Venture to the village of St. Remy and paint in the foot steps of Van Gogh. St. Remy is known as Van Gogh's refuge in the Saint Paul de Mausole asylum. While recuperating, he painted over 150 paintings of the area's many vineyards, olive orchards, and the striking Alpilles mountains. Many sights can be found today as they were in Van Gogh's time. St. Remy, the village offers the best of Provence with it's weekly market, boutiques, cafes and local wineries. There are many architectural nooks, fountains and doorways waiting to be painted. Nearby is the historic village of Les Baux de Provence. Perched on a rocky spur, the citadel overlooks panoramic views of the beautiful countryside. On a clear day, the Meditaranean can be seen in the far distance. Painting each day will offer hands-on instruction for every level of expertise. We will look at the history of plein air painting. There will be fundamental technique and local color demonstrations, daily critiques in addition to a morning and afternoon painting session - all in a relaxed outdoors environment. The workshop fee includes: Transportation to St. Remy The costs are based on double occupancy with a cost increase at 6 participants because an additional room is required.
